Yankee Swap

Come explore a Kamp Koop tradition: The Yankee Swap.  This is the 16th year in a row to run the event and it is always a smash!  Tommy, remember, no tawdry gifts this year or you will be forever black-listed.

Happy Holidays!

BLAZE

Kamp Koop is standing strong and united.  Thank you for your thoughts and concerns regarding the five alarm blaze at the kounselors' mess hall.

BIG.NIGHT.LIGHT.

Kamp Koop will observe the lighting of the Washington Monument tonight with cider and cookies.  Bring your friends and leave the winter blues behind for a night.  Be careful not to look directly in George's eyes and watch out for Elmo.

Revival

Kids, the noon hot yoga session is canceled today as nostalgia for an era when lunch was Lunch (i.e. an event) reigns supreme. Get out of your spandex and into your "Sunday's finest" for gin, oysters and steak.  Enjoy.  Your grandfather would be proud.

FistFights

Shall be taken out back behind the dumpsters

Full-ish

Happy Hour dinner specials are a racket: one is served just enough food to remain hungry, at which point happy hour ends and the foolish patron finds the bison burger the only satiating menu option, meaning one is forced to purchase an appetizer and a regular priced entree when the entree alone would have been enough sustenance in the first place.  This is as bad as or worse than the hidden overdraft fees charged by Bank of America.  And fattening.  Bummer.

If it Flies, It Dies

The kids at Kamp Koop enjoyed an afternoon of gun toting good fun this past Sunday.  Shots were fired and birds fell. They fell down. The "de facto" winner of the day was Maury.  Though his dismal skeet score in no way reflected his handicap (based solely on a sliding scale of charismatic chutzpah), his gray-scale garb, pumpkin slaying skills and dexterous verbosity (we now have a name for kounselor post-skeet kocktails: apres-skeet) won the adoration of the masses.

The Rundown

So much has happened over the past few weeks. A solo classical guitar serenade. A swinging laptop shindig. So many tapas. A crab feast. A happy birthday in the country. Tennis showdowns. Dinner parties on the square. Lost some campers to cross street. A guitar recital. Late night jazz jams. Courtyard parties. Sailing soirees. Cats. Furniture. Kosovo. Brazil. Baltimore. Recording sessions. The kids have done so much! Ellaboration to come!

Cheers gang. We're all so proud.

BIRDS

The Swedish Kamper presented OWLS today at show 'n tell.  Everybody try your best owl impression!  How far can you spin your head around your neck?  Along with your usual search for unicorn poop in the woods, keep an eye out for owl pellets to dissect after sports on Sunday.

KAMP KOOP: TRANSPORATION

We at Kamp Koop would like to thank Goldman Sachs for their recent charitable contribution to our fleet of vehicles.
Kampers:

With the change of season, we will make the switch from aquatic activities to racket recreation.  Tennis and Squash sign-up sheets are now up in the reading room.  Shoes and headbands are required to participate.

Tea Time

Three senior members of Kamp Koop were involved in a culinary kerfuffle.  The case of the Italian Panini from Cuba covered with American Cheese flabbergasted the brain-trust into wild epileptic fits of drop-ceiling terror and fluorescent light confusion.  The staff members recovered but a marble mouthed waiter bent their minds beyond normal human limits.  Wandering like a pack of drooling fools, the staff members used a local Asian market as a life boat back from the depths of the banal and found solace in a 20 LB bag of rice.

Dolphins

Remember to thank Pablo for the croquetas, a special addition to our Kamp Koop does Kuba lunch menu. Here  is some more reading to help you digest.  Cigars will be available to all Kampers at two in the main lobby.

-Patria o Muerte

Kuba

According to a recent conversation with a minor kounselor at  Kamp Koop: Denver, Kuba is an island of excitement and myriad eccentricities.  Her claim has merit so Fidel Kastro is the theme of kamp today.  Mix a planter's punch for breakfast and read this.

Friends,

We at Kamp Koop thank you for your support and patience as we end what turned out to be our busiest summer sessions on record!  After a whirlwind closure to the 2010 session (apologies to Antonio's parents/damn you jellyfish of the narrows Kent), the kounselors at Kamp Koop took some well needed R&R in the former Yougoslavia.  The jaunt in the Balkans was boundless and groundless, yet rather fruitful.  We are, once again, full of vigor and ready to bring you another season of unexpected vulgarities.  We begin with musical festivities on the main lawn with the sweetest adult beverages available through the window of the mess hall; just reach your hand in and fish around until you find your post-work treat.  Masks and costumes are available in the common area on the first floor of the NW building.  Bring your own body paint and a healthy dose of over-caffeinated energy.

Fondly,
Robert
